Johan Rosenmunthe
Supermarket
Even your most precious artists' books are carried in the same tote bag as groceries for tomorrow's lunchbox-prep and the partyhats for next week's Friday bar. Artists' books should be everyday objects that we surround ourselves with, touch and enjoy as frequently as our favourite supermarket staples.
That's the power of artists' books, they are democratic and easily accessible (at least more than traditional gallery artworks) at the same time as being an original work from the artist's own hands. In this installation, artists' books are displayed alongside groceries in a supermarket setup. Additionally, two receipt printers are working on publishing new artworks, commissioned from artists Michala Paludan and Marianne Vierø. These publications blur the boundaries between highly valued artworks and those slips of cheap paper that merely function as temporary records, the print will even fade away if exposed to sunlight.
So pop by and get your shopping done, all in one place.
