Galleri Image

Vestergade 29, 8000 Aarhus  C

Galleri Image is a non-commercial public gallery for camera-based art, founded in Aarhus in 1977. Galleri Image was the only exhibition space dedicated to photography in Denmark for several years and now also presents a wide variety of art forms that make use of or are in dialogue with cameras and photographic techniques: video art, books, installation, and computer art.

The annual programme encompasses five to six solo and group exhibitions by Danish and international artists, both emerging and well-established practitioners within the field. Galleri Image have frequently presented major seminars and symposia with renowned experts and academics in addition to hosting artist talks and book launches for new artists’ books.

Galleri Image participates in major global festivals and presents travel exhibitions, often as part of collaborative efforts with established curators and art institutions. Throughout the years, it has hosted exhibitions with works by world-famous artists, including Diane Arbus, Duane Michaels, August Sander, Allen Ginsberg, Joan Fontcuberta, Martin Parr, Katarzyna Kozyra and Lebohang Kganye.
